If you’re looking for healthy breakfast ideas, there are lots to choose from. For many of us, having a healthy breakfast in the morning is often a challenge; however, for children especially it’s often a significant struggle. So hopefully these great, simple breakfast ideas for children will help you smooth out your mornings so that you can go out the door on time and so that everyone got a nice face mask as they hit the pavement. Enjoy!

One of the easiest healthy breakfast ideas is oatmeal. You might be surprised at just how good this meal is, particularly when served in a fruit smoothie with some fresh fruit, berries, and milk. One thing you’ll want to look for in a good smoothie is a banana and an apple flavor. This works especially well if you use bananas that have been cut in half, or even half. You could also add some peaches to that mix for a sweet treat.

Another delicious breakfast idea that’s healthy but doesn’t involve any eggs is to make a baked sweet potato. There’s no real secret to the recipe, just a few key ingredients that work together to create one mouth-watering dish. You’ll need a sweet potato (sweet potatoes come in all shapes and sizes), some chopped onions, some green peppers (sliced or chopped), some chopped carrots, a little garlic, a pinch of salt and pepper, and a cup of water. Bring all of this to a boil, and while it’s boiling, add one egg.

One of the most popular healthy breakfast ideas today involves cereal. Some cereals, such as Quaker oats, are already sweetened with fruit juice or milk, making them an excellent alternative to sugar-laden breakfast cereals. For healthier crackers, try cornflakes, which have almost no added sugar. Other healthy breakfast options include wheat bread (in moderation), and whole-grain crackers, which have less refined grains and more healthy ingredients.

If you’re looking for a healthy variation on the classic egg and cheese breakfast burrito, spinach is definitely an excellent choice. You can use spinach in a savory sausage, or make a spicier version using bacon, mushrooms, sausage, tomatoes, and a bit of oil or margarine. You could also bake the spinach in a tortilla and heat up the tortilla, or cook it in a skillet with tomatoes and onions. A spinach and mushroom scramble is another idea that utilizes spinach and is surprisingly tasty.

A Much Ado

Muffins are another popular choice for healthy breakfast foods. A healthy muffin is just simply a flour tortilla that has softened butter or margarine applied to it. Add a few pieces of cheese to the middle of the muffin, along with a couple of eggs if you’re trying to stay on the healthier side. You can add any variety of herbs and spices to the muffin as well, including fresh herbs like rosemary, garlic, or chives. If you add too many eggs to the recipe, you will end up with a rich egg and cheese omelet, which is unhealthy as well as delicious.

Another great breakfast idea using eggs is a sausage and egg salad sandwich. This recipe calls for reduced-fat sour cream, tomatoes, reduced-fat cheddar cheese, and mayonnaise. To make the sandwich even more healthy, consider replacing half of the mayonnaise with a little less fat sour cream, and adding a dash of blueberries to the sandwich for a little extra freshness.

Bottom Line

Last but not least, a healthy option for zucchini bread is healthy banana bread. Like the zucchini bread, you can use reduced-fat ingredients in this recipe to make it more healthy, or you can use full-fat ingredients to up the taste. In this recipe, you will need reduced-fat yogurt, zucchini, bananas, and either sugar or honey. Blend all of these ingredients together and stir in just until blended, then take your sliced zucchini and put it in the center of your cooled yogurt-carrot mixture. Bake it, and you have a healthy, tasty breakfast that you can feel good about eating.
